Application Instructions – Plain Film
Window film is a very thin material that requires handling with care. Creases and folding must be avoided and application must be carried out in a draught and dust free area.
Only apply the film to smooth glass.
You will need:
1 spray bottle filled with water.
Add 2 drops of dishwashing detergent.
Stanley Knife to trim the design if necessary
Credit card or similar wrapped in a dust free cloth
Instructions for applying window film:
1. Before applying Frost & Co. frosted window film you must thoroughly clean the glass to be used. Firstly remove any spots of dried paint etc, and then wash with clean, soapy water. Any dirt or lint on the glass will be trapped under the film and look unsightly. Do not use window cleaning spray, as it can damage the film.
2. Place your design on a flat surface. Begin by peeling off and discarding the backing paper.
3. Liberally spray the glass and exposed surface of the film. Lightly spray your hands to stop the film sticking to them. The solution you made will help slide it perfectly into position.
4. Carefully pick up the laminate, ensuring the sticky side is facing away from you and slide into position on your glass. Keep the film straight and do not allow it to curl up on itself or wrinkle to avoid creasing.
5. Gently slide the film on the wet surface so that it's in place. It will continue to move, providing the glass is wet. Push out any large bubbles with your hand.
6. Carefully smooth the cloth and card over the surface of the laminate from the centre outwards. This pushes out the water and removes any bubbles, creating a vacuum and enabling your laminate to stick to the glass.
7. Wipe away any excess water. While there is water under the film, it will move.
8. There may be some water marks left on the film, however this will dry/evaporate over time.
9. If required trim around the edges of the frame with a Stanley knife.
10. If you find there are some bubbles left after the film has adhered and dried, gently warm the film with a hair dryer and push out the bubbles. If they remain, carefully prick them with a pin and continue to rub the film, until it adheres correctly.

2. Your film will come sandwiched between a backing paper and application paper. This is to ensure the design does not skew when applying it to your window.
3. Place your design on a flat surface. Begin by peeling off the backing paper. This is the thicker paper that you cannot see through. Discard the backing paper.
4. Liberally spray the glass, where the film is to be stuck. The solution you made will help slide it perfectly into position.
5. Carefully pick up the laminate, ensuring the sticky side is facing away from you and slide into position on your glass. Keep the film straight and do not allow it to curl up on itself or wrinkle to avoid creasing. It will continue to move, providing the glass is wet.
6. Carefully smooth the cloth and card over the surface of the laminate from the centre outwards. Make sure all the bubbles are out of the film. Keep going over the film, check and re-check that the bubbles are out.
7. Once the film is in the correct position, leave it to dry overnight or a minimum of 5 hours.
8. Carefully remove the application tape making sure that all the design is stuck to the window. This is best done, by peeling the paper flat back against the glass.
9. Wipe away any excess water. While there is water under the film, it will move.
10. There may be some water marks left on the film, however this will dry/evaporate over time.
11. If required trim around the edges of the frame with a Stanley knife.
To clean the film after installation, use mild soapy water and paper towel. Avoid using an abrasive material, as it will scratch the film.
